A treemap is used to visualize quantitative data as part-to-whole in a hierarchical way and is composed of nested rectangles. The size of each rectangles is proportional to the values they represent. Color can be used to show a relationship between the nested rectangles or additional data such as performance. They are ideal to give a quick overview of hierarchies using a limited amount of space.
